I recently went surfing for the first time, and of course failed horribly at my attempts to ride the wave. Looking at professionals surf, and seeing them cruise on waves got me inaccurately assuming that surfing shouldn’t be too hard to master. When actually trying to surf the only thing I managed to accomplish was getting the timing down. I noticed that timing was the first step in riding a wave, because if I used the wave to propel my board, the water would push up and balance my board more. I hope to become more accomplished in my attempts the next time I go.
