So far our project team is making advancements to the final product, which is a pop-up AR storybook application for users. Right now we have just figured out image recognition and the objects to be associated with them. Our team looks towards implementing a cloud database to house all the image targets we need for recognition, so when a user scans the page of the storybook we are using then our application will grab that image target from the database and spawn the appropriate model. From starting to dabble with the cloud side of Vuforia I can see that the AR SDK is innovative and easy to use especially for first time developers.
I especially appreciate the fact that there numerous tutorials and documentation provided by Vuforia and Unity in showing beginners how to get started. We live in an era where information and education can be accessed easily as long as one has internet. Especially for an interest in Computer Science there is a multitude of free resources online where one can learn new things and gain skills. For many courses in the program I am currently taking, our instructors actually encourage to look at the documentation of the APIs, platforms, and languages we are using as well as other resources online to help us with our assigned projects.
I wonder if in the actual industry it plays out pretty much the same. For instance, if I am asked by a project lead to implement a feature in a application which I have never done before. I assume I am tasked with finding my own solution to it with the help of online resources and my fellow peers if it does come down to their help.
