Week Two Experiences with Discrimination

When evaluating a company I find company values and inclusion very important. Treating everyone fairly I believe is extremely important for any company, and important for me when deciding whether to support a company or not. If a company came out with outstanding claims of discrimination it would definitely influence my decision whether to support them or not. I think after this week’s lessons it’s important to recognize that there’s potential it could be adverse discrimination, in this case, I would use a lot more discretion before changing my opinion on a company. There have been cases in the past where employees have filed lawsuits against an organization, and it turned out that the organization wasn’t in the wrong. I think it’s important in any circumstance to understand the full story before making an opinion on something.

If I heard about discrimination within a workplace it would definitely change my opinion on applying for a position there. I feel like this would be the case for most people, I don’t think anybody at the end of the day wants to work in an environment where people are getting discriminated against. I’ve worked in environments that I’ve hated in the past and it’s not worth your time if you can’t fit in with a company culture I could see myself still applying for a position if the company restructured its values after getting exposed to discrimination in the organization.
