Educational Packing Shed at the NWREC Learning Farm

In 2015 Nick Andrews and Heidi Noordijk with Metro Small Farms Program, toured farms and met with vegetable growers, community partners, and other agricultural professionals to design a small-scale packing shed to be constructed at the North Willamette Research and Education Center. During this time a demonstration packing shed, dry storage room, mobile cooler, and postharvest furniture has been constructed. Since 2015 the packing shed project has been providing vegetable farmers with education and resources on packing shed design, postharvest handling and storage, and food safety from harvest to market.
