Halfway There

We have reached the midpoint of our design project and I am happy to say that my team has kept to the pacing that we set up in our project plan. We are working on an escape room game and by this time in the project we were set on having most of the generic functionality worked out. Some examples being player movement, the ability for a player to pick up and use an item that they find in the room, requesting a hint, and transitioning between the different scenes of our game. Other than that, each member of the team is taking control of one scene in the game. We determined that by the midpoint, every scene would have one completely laid out puzzle. There have been some hiccups along the way, mostly with team git issues, but we’re making great progress.

Of course things cannot always be easy. When we went to build our Unity project and host it on our github pages site, we ran into a few last minute issues. One issue was that when the player finished a room and moved on to the next scene, the game would just infinitely hang at the loading screen. The other issue was that our existing cursor controls didn’t want to cooperate while playing in the browser. With a couple hours left on the clock before everything needed to be submitted, our team collaborated really well to fix the problems. I am very lucky to be a part of a team that is quick to work together and tackle issues that arise.
