Personality, Stress, Work & Me

Do you think your mental health status is good? Try out the ”Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Inventory.” I scored 135, which makes me less susceptible to mental breakdowns. The Type A personality test showed me that I was competitive. I tend to compete with others, it is the main motivation that drives me to work with dedication. I think that when a person is motivated enough to achieve something, he comes competitive.

Support from employees, fellows, and managers is a key helper which makes the stress of a person go away. I believe that even being competitive, I and everyone else should seek for help when ever required. It helps a person calming himself down. Another thing that should be in your to-do list is to be a problem-solver and not a problem creator. Take advices from others, and try to solve your problems with the help of others. Make yourself comfortable with your fellow employees.

A competitive person would always compromise his mental health so that he could achieve his goals. I believe that mental peace is necessary and should not be compromised in any case, or it will turn you into a walking stress machine. Mental exhaustion is worst that physical exhaustion, and is the most leading cause of stress for me. Thus, I repeat, take care of your mental health as you take care of your most precious thing.

I read an article in mayo clinic where i studied something really unique which I would like to discuss here. It said that in order to cope up with stress, try with the 4A’s principle. These are; Avoid, Alter, Accept and Adapt. (Mayo Clinic, 2021)
