We’re pretty far through the first term at this point, and I’d say our team has been pretty productive. That’s definitely not to say that it’s been perfect, though.
As a group, we had a large misunderstanding of how the dynamic with our project mentor was supposed to work, and it took a few weeks to get on the same page.
Then there was our decision to meet once a week, in the middle of the week. The thought process behind the schedule was that we’d have a couple days ahead of the meeting to prep for that week’s task, then we’d have another couple days post-meeting to finish it up. The problem is that the prep part almost never happens, and we end up starting on the task during the meeting. We’ve been able to manage it, but it hasn’t been super clean, and we’re adjusting our schedule to go with our group work style.
Post-graduation
When I started my Computer Science degree journey back in 2020, I had a broad idea of what I wanted to do with it – innovate in the field of energy accessibility. Along the way, I decided to tack on a second degree in Economics, and while I don’t regret that, it definitely sapped a lot of the time that I otherwise would’ve had to put into getting myself ready for a career after graduation.
While the economics degree is all but finished (the only course left is the Spanish class I’m halfway through), in order to finish this CS degree after the Spring term, I need to take full course loads through the next two quarters. If they don’t end up being too time-consuming, I’ll hopefully be able to put in some time over the winter and spring figuring out exactly what it is I’m going to do once I’m officially a college graduate.
