Typical vs. Maximal Performance

If I had to choose between hiring Avery or Jamie, I would hire Jamie. Hard work and trying is something that I value from anyone that I would with or that works for me. If they are trying to understand and they are trying to get the job done then there is no reason not to hire him. Yes, Avery has a high capability to do the job but without the drive to get it done then there is nothing you can work with. Attitude cannot be fixed but skills and resources can be. If given the chance Jamie could get better if someone was to sit down and walk him through the steps of how to be better in higher stress situations. Jamie is perfect for jobs that don’t require a lot of high-stress work and is pretty consistent in the day-to-day operations. For example, working as an accountant where clients need to be addressed every day and the work is mostly consistent every day. There really isn’t much variation and needs to be in a high-stress situation. In other words, Avery is the opposite where she must perform at a high level on occasion but doesn’t have a lot of consistent tasks that need address every day. For example, working as a morning talk show host. She only really needs to be on her game for about an hour in the morning with the occasional work before and afterward, but the job gives her a lot of flexibility to get it done when she wants.
