My Time at OSU Is Close to an End

It is hard to believe that I am almost done with the OSU post-bacc program. While I was in the thick of it, it is a time that I thought would never come. All of the hours and days spent studying and completing homework and programs seemed like a massive mountain to climb. However, here I am, less than three weeks away from graduating.

I wanted to reflect on my biggest takeaways from my time here at OSU. One of the greatest things it has taught me is that I am able to persevere and finish difficult tasks. And in the end, doing so is worth it, as I am in a much better position now than I was three years ago, before deciding to start this program. I have also discovered my love for computer science, as many of these hours spent working on course projects were enjoyable. Now that it is almost over, I think I will miss a lot of these.

The final, and most important, takeaway from this post-bacc program is that it is never too late to change paths. When I started this program, I was 27-years-old. I held a sense that I was “too old” to get into tech, and would be looked down on in any internship, since I was an older student. However, I have spent the past 2.5 years with many other individuals here that are in the same position that I am in. If you ask any of us if we regret completing this degree and changing career paths due to our age, I believe that we would all say no. We entered this program in order to better ourselves, our careers, and our lives. No matter what age you are, that is something you won’t ever regret. It is never too late to begin a new chapter in life.
