I’ve been watching videos and looking at articles as to what a day in the life of a software engineer is like. Some seem realistic and some seem too good to be true. Some showed doing some work and others just messing around. I am curious as to how much coding is involved. It seems like lately all I’ve been doing is coding and I’m not sure if it’s due to the classes I’m taking, the lack of skill thus taking longer to code projects, or the lack of planning. This is beginning to worry me a bit as to what it’s actually like in the field as I have been feeling very tired lately and drained from all this coding. Sometimes I take breaks and that helps, but I am hoping there is a balance with coding and planning to help keep the mind less stressed. I do love coding, but I also love a good break to venture into other parts of CS/IT. Hopefully when I start my new job there is this type of balance that allows me to see other parts of the SWE fields outside of coding.
