- Create a Linkedin profile
One of the things I did this week was create a Linkedin profile. Linkedin is a sort of social media platform with a professional focus on it. I had not really looked into the platform before creating a profile, but it seems like a very useful tool in today’s age, for getting employed as well as creating a professional internet presence. I found through Linkedin, it was fairly easy to find different companies as well as people working for those companies. I also thought that it was very cool and interesting how you can see what people from Oregon State University have been hired by that company. I think it gives good insight of the business-side of companies that interest someone. Not to mention, how open job positions are listed by some companies makes me feel like this social media platform is more for serious business instead of just for fun, which I think is a neat concept in itself.
- Use social media to search companies/organizations or people you would like to connect with, either as future employers or as a networking resource
I did some researching of primarily companies through social media that interested me as potential future employers, and also some people as a networking resource. While I looked a bit around Instagram and Facebook, I found most of what I was looking for on Linkedin. Company pages share a lot of similarities in the content published across numerous social media platforms. Despite this, I found the unique features of Linkedin the most useful for considering future employment. Companies that I followed included industries such as: automotive, aeronautical, micro processors, DAW, solar, musical instrument, musical hardware, and material just to name some. As I continue in my education and get a better idea of what interests me, I can look further into some of these companies as well as the people who work for them.
- Max 8 Update
After installing the optron plugin for max 8, I got to understand a little more on how the program works. Upon opening the optron add-on in Max 8, you can see info charts on the different parameters. There are some customizable features as well on the software. However, you need an optron to actually use the software, so I look forward to when that happens.
