Learning Outcomes
- At the end of this course students will be able to analyze career development theories and compare their workplace interests using career assessments.
- At the end of this course students will be able to explain how one’s personal or cultural values can affect their career decision-making process.
Discussion Activity
The ‘ In Their Shoes Partner Activity’ is a fun way for students to get to know their classmates and learn about each other’s values. It supports progress towards learning outcome #2. Students will be able to reference the rubric for grading criteria.
Active Learning Assignment
The ‘ Values and Career Choices Quiz and Discussion Activity ‘ will occur in week 4 and 5. It consists of a short quiz in week 4 and a discussion activity in week 5. It supports progress towards learning outcome #2. Students will be able to reference the rubric for grading criteria.
Final Assignment
The ‘Career Theory Identification and Alignment’ assignment will be the final project students submit for this course. Students will analyze the four basic career development theories and describe how they align with career paths of interests determined by a career placement test. It supports progress towards learning outcomes #1 and #2. Students will be able to reference the rubric for grading criteria.
Career Decision Making
In this class students will learn how to use career development theories, assessments, and individual/group assignments to explore different career options that align with their values and will help them to make informed decisions for their future.
