Blog #3

Hello! Hello!! Capstone has been going pretty good for me but it will soon be getting harder and have more issues as the integration part and the testing begins.

What is your most difficult challenge? How did you solve it?

Over the past term the project had been smooth sailing but this term when it came to the implementation, I encountered the most difficult challenge which was getting the unity code to work and getting the implementation of the Non-character person to be correct. So when I was designing the nonperson character(NPC) there were issues when it came to the integration into the code part because the character and the action it is supposed to do was not syncing correctly so I had to go back and delete all my files that related to the npc and start over. The way I solved it the second time around was to first write down all the steps that I needed to take and then I went ahead and started implementing it each step of the way and made sure that I was not rushing through any of the steps. So that included downloading the character and the action, adding the files in the necessary area of the project and then getting the files to match up and work together. Overall that took me about 4+ hrs to configure but I was able to get it done either way and I was really proud of myself that I was able to figure it out!!

Why did you choose your project, and has it met your expectations thus far?

When we were initially picking projects, the main reason I picked this project was because I thought that there would be more research on the side of AI and psychology. Which I am really interested in and to a certain extent the project included a lor of research and understanding the customer and medical requirement. But there were things such as the game design/unity/vr part that was completely new to me and has been harder to implement. Nonetheless, the project has been fun! I have had the opportunity to work with some great people and a great project manger and I definitely think that I made a good choice.

Conclusion

Overall, this term definitely has been tougher than the last one because of the challenges that we have been facing, but I am excited to continue and see what me and my group end up making out during our final integeration. I am really glad to be able to work on a project that will help people in the future and be part of something greater!!
