4 – Progress.

Time is one of those things that seems to constantly creep up on you. What felt like just a few weeks ago, I wrote my first blog post thinking that the end was so far away. Now writing my fourth, I realize that the end is reaching near.

Who I was several weeks ago knew nothing about AI/Machine Learning, I had no concept of how to develop a trading bot, or how to coordinate with a team of developers. This class has truly given me the route to learn all these things. Substantial progress has been made to get me to this position where I can see the final stretch.

As I write this, in just a couple of days my group and I will convene to put the finishing touches on our project. Time flew by when I least expected it. From knowing absolutely nothing to developing a fully working project is something I couldn’t necessarily picture all those weeks ago. Even at this moment, it feels surreal because this means my journey here at Oregon State University is reaching its conclusion. This final capstone project has put into perspective, my entire journey here at OSU.

Not only have I made progress this term, but the formula that I used to absorb the knowledge necessary for this project is what I have used all along. It’s hard to gauge your progress when you’re in the thick of it, but being able to take a step back and reflect on my journey here, I’m able to see it all. Isaac in CS 161 wouldn’t be able to keep up with the current Isaac. The progress that I’ve made this quarter, combined with the progress before this quarter started, is just the beginning. I plan on expanding upon my knowledge and sharpening the skills I’ve picked up for years to come.

Life is nothing without progression, and it feels good to be able to see what I’ve been able to accomplish. It is only up from here, and at the end of the day, I’m thankful for what I’ve learned here, not just CS-related skills, but the lessons I’ve been able to extract from the good and the bad times. They have taught me to not stay stagnate, I want to be the best me I can be, and I will keep progressing.
