When it comes to working internationally, I would definitely have to think about it. Some of my main concerns are family related. At which part in my life would I get presented this opportunity? If I had wife and kids, it would be a very tough task to move them. However, If I didn’t have family, I would strongly consider this opportunity. This thought in my mind only becomes possible with the right compensation package.
Some of the things I would look at when thinking about this decision is the living arrangement. I would need the company to make my life as easy as possible when it comes to transportation. When it comes to international cities, it can get very hectic and I am not the type to be stressed about things like transportation. Another factor I would look at when thinking about this decision is the language barrier. Will I have to take classes to be able to interact with other members of society in that culture? Lastly, The compensation I would receive would have to be all worth it. For me, I am a home body and like to be close to my parents if possible. This decision to be across the world would take a toll on me mentally.
There are also many positives with moving work internationally. I would love to make new connections in places I would of never thought I would have them. Being apart of a new culture would also be refreshing for me as I am always looking for something new. Having new experiences like these tell you a lot about yourself and what you truly like and dislike.
