Blog post #3

Hi, my name is Jiehui Huang. I am taking the CS461 course, which is the senior engineer project. My project is the wine lake data, and the goal of the project is to help the user to find the specific wine easier based on the keywords. In fact, there is a large amount of wine data that comes out each year, and it is challenging to read the information manually in order to sort them. Instead of sorting the data, we can store the wine data into the database, and search the specific wine based on the keywords. The current progress is great, and we have some examples of wine data working. The goal is to convert the data from the pdf files into the words, and it helps to store the information of wines into the database. It can be used to search the keywords instead of just a few categories of characteristics.

My feedback on this course is great, and it focuses on the design and weekly meeting with the sponsor for the project. Also, we have upcoming two courses after this class, and we will implement the programs based on what we have designed already.

I am working with an internship beside the course work, and it is about a six month period for my internship. It started in October 2022, and I have about four months left. My goal is to seek a second internship in my free time.

I learned about how we design a webpage that can help people to search the information easier, and it saves time for the user. When they have new data, they can add it to the database. They can get the data from the database based on the characteristics of wines. It sounds like when we search for a book in a library, and we need to know the specific locations of the type of books.

The technologies that I use on the project are Python, Java, google cloud and auth0. We use the google cloud to host the webpage publicly, and we stored the data into the auth0 database.

In reality, I handle the stress by watching the movie in my free time, and I talk with my friends when I get stuck on the problems. Also, it is great if we take a break when we are being stuck, it helps us to have some time to relax in order to move forward.
