The companies that I decided to look at form my blog post was Intuit inc., American Express, Stryker, and Edward Jones. The common theme that I got from each of these companies is that the management for theses companies make the work place seem like its a family and a home. They typically feel comfortable going and talking to their managers about what is going on within the company as well as have fun with their co workers while working for these companies.

For me personally I would say that I would want to be the type of manager that their employees can feel comfortable talking to about any situations they may be dealing with within the company. I would like to be seen as caring, but also someone who preforms to an exceptionally level that a company can see that not only my employees like me, but I’m achieving great numbers for the company. I think that some times this may be very difficult to achieve because of the way that each employee may respond differently to the things that you do. I think that managing the way that you treat employees who may not be performing the best would be one of the most difficult things to do as a manager. Ultimately you would want to make sure that every employee is happy, but you can’t always treat them the same if some aren’t performing as good as others. Being a manager is a very difficult position and one that can be hard in a lot of very different aspects, but I would say that this seems like the hardest aspect for me.
