Caffeine And Me

Caffeine is a drug. It is a psychoactive drug. It is something that I usually try to avoid. Partially, this is because I don’t want myself to get hooked on some expensive drink that I can’t afford like coffee. I also know that caffeine has diminishing returns when it comes to affecting the body. As such, I try to avoid drinking caffinated drink as much as possible. Afterall, there might be some point where I want its affects in there full without dilution.

That is a feeling I experienced this week. In trying to piece together aspects of the project I am working on, I came into the terrible problem where I ran out of time to figure things out and research them. Not to say that I was slacking though, I had been working on various aspects of the assignmnet over the days before, but got stuck trying to stick them together. And as I pressed forward, I ran out of time. Or rather, I normally would’ve been out of time if it weren’t for caffeine. Thanks to this miracle juice, I was able to stay focused on my task and made considerable progress throughout the night. The temptation of sleep never even came to me. By the time morning came, I had already exhausted my list of worries and had a clear view of the goal. Caffeine had saved me.

So, if you are like me and don’t partake in caffeine regularly, then at least remember that their is a time and place where it can be useful. And, if you are an addict, then it might be worth a day of withdrawl to get the kinds of results that I experienced back. Anyhow, I’m just glad that caffeine is so common and legal, despite it being a psychoactive drug.
