The End of an Era

As my final blog post of the semester and my final semester as a student at OSU I am finding myself in a time of reflection. During this term and the previous six I have learned so many new skills and I have been able to change the trajectory of my life. This program has been a great experience and prepared me for a life as a developer. Initially when I was kicking around the idea of going back to school I was nervous and did not want to do it. When I finished my first degree I swore I would never go back, not because I hated it, but because I was ready to be out of the grind of juggling my normal life and my school life. Somehow I talked myself into trying it a second time and although it was very difficult I am so incredibly happy that I chose this path.

I am proud to say that I have accepted a position as a Software Engineer working for a company that mainly deals with infrared signal and image processing to track objects in the sky, both in and above our atmosphere. When we started our satellite tracking app for our final project I never thought that it would be directly applicable to what I would end up doing in my new career, but here we are. So as I prepare to hang up my life as a student and enter the ‘real world’ I will constantly be reminded of school and all that it has led me to.
