In the situation mentioned during the week 2 blog prompt, if I was faced with a situation where I came across a news article reporting that my favorite company was faced with a public lawsuit in which they were accused of widespread discrimination against individuals from an ethnicity, culture, or belief system I associated with this would heavily negatively effect the way I looked at the company. I would be very discouraged from giving them my business especially in today’s age where there is so many options in every market to get products or services from. Unless there was a very sincere and heartfelt apology from the company and immediate corrective action taken, no excuses and owning up to the issue I would have trouble ever supporting the company again. This would also make me never want to work with the company in the future, I would fear discrimination on myself even after the company corrected the wrong doing. There are just so many better options than a company that has that as a reputation. I think that this is one of those things that can often times be overlooked by the public, as companies have money and pay people to specifically manage their image. They are very good at wiping some of these stories under the rug and put out the fire before it spreads. Which I think is unfortunate because it makes cases like this all to common and looked at as not as bad as it really is.
