If I were in the shoes of a business owner, I would hire Jaime. Personally, I would rather have some who provides consistent results rather than mostly slacking and a little below average with random spurts of excellence. By hiring Jaime, I feel that in clutch situations I could find other employees who could collaborate with her to provide high quality content.
A type of job that would best suit someone like Avery would be someone working in a sales position. They could be able to slack off, or perform below average, during the time they have to do mundane paperwork but once they are needed to make a sale and connect with a client, they are able to “turn it on” when they need to. In a sales position being able to close the deal and convince a client to buy their company’s product is extremely important and being able to do so would allow them to stick around in their position.
A job that someone like Jaime would do well in would be a teacher. Teachers are often very consistent and able to work with many students while providing consistent help and knowledge. They are unable to slack off because doing so would force their student’s grades to suffer, their students would become distracted and difficult to manage, and they would become unorganized in their lesson planning. Making sure they are consistent and able to perform at the same level is imperative for students to effectively learn. If teachers are asked to take on more responsibility in a different aspect of their school, they could then collaborate with other teachers to continue finding even better ideas or methods to use.
