Most Important Thing

The most important thing that I have learned throughout this class is how to effectively design a recruitment ad. Because I want to go into recruitment or talent acquisition, I feel that understanding how to attract the best candidates is extremely important. Making sure that all ads have the logo presented clearly and the layout of each ad is visually attractive is very important to attract people and make sure they are reading our job descriptions. Next, I will make sure every ad has the salary and compensation information available. Throughout my talent acquisition internship I have noticed that our company does not post the salary information on our job postings. I thought this was interesting and asked my boss why we do not post that information. She explained that we have an older fashioned compensation team that feels that in order to keep competitive salaries they like to keep this information private until they interview each candidate to see where their salary range is. I think posting salary information is an interesting topic because I can see both sides. Overall though I feel that showing that information right away gives you a better chance of having a more serious applicant pool. Next, making sure the information posted on the job ad is accurate is very important. You do not want to post inaccurate information that could mislead applicants. Being honest in the job posting is the best way to attract candidates. It is also extremely important to describe the overall company culture and accurately describe the job position. Being as clear as possible with potential candidates will allow them to get a feel for what your company is really like and allow them to decide earlier rather than later if they see themselves fitting in. Lastly, making sure to explain the application process is also very important as well in order to give everyone a sense of time.
