The last job I applied for was a nice mix of professional and laid back. The initial application was straightforward and had all of the normal questions which made it fairly simple to fill out. My first interview was with my (now) supervisor and was very professional and over Zoom. I was asked around ten questions all about my experience in management, my relevant college courses, my ability to work in groups, overcome challenges, and my proficiency in Microsoft Office. My second interview was with a recruiter and was much more relaxed, over the phone, and was very brief. The last interview was with the HR Director, which made me nervous initially, but was much more relaxed and was really nice to be able to speak with someone so high up in the company. Looking back on the experience, I liked that throughout the interviewing process I was able to talk to many different people within the department as well as have more relaxed conversations with the people who were interviewing me.
Being able to speak with my supervisor, a recruiter who I will now work closely with, and the director of HR gave me different perspectives on the company and the plans they have for their interns. Speaking with people high up in the company made me excited to want to work there and think about possible positions within the company that could lead to growth after an internship. Overall, I felt that it was clear that they knew what they were doing when interviewing and were able to be professional enough while still allowing me feel comfortable and relaxed while talking about my experience.
Hi Mackenzie!
I think that this interview process shows a lot about how the company operates. You can tell that they are very organized, and value finding an employee that fits their company needs. I think a lot of jobs have one or two interviews whereas this job had three which is awesome. I think it is very interesting that they had you speak with both recruiters and higher ups at the company. I think this allows you to learn a lot about the company culture as well as the different plans for the company in the long term. Overall, this company you interviewed with seems like it has a great company culture and cares a lot about their employees!
