Advising is an important profession responsibility of the EdM program coordinator and faculty within the College of Education. There are two different types of student advising.
- The Masters of Education Program Coordinator is responsible for advising students when they are accepted into the program until they graduate, serving all students throughout the process. The program coordinator:
- Orientate to Oregon State University, the College of Education, and the EdM program
- Ensure that college and graduate school policies are presented and followed
- Assist in course selection
- Process required forms: Leave of Absence, Program of Study, Schedule Events
- Monitor progress toward degree completion
- Assign a major professor for the capstone project
- Organize graduation logistics: inviting graduate committee members, scheduling rooms, etc.
The current coordinator is Amy Hoffman.
- A faculty member is assigned a major professor to advise students on the final examination (capstone project) and preparation for the oral exam. Major professors:
- Review the capstone project proposal
- Guides and advise literature review and development of capstone project
- Serve on the oral exam
