Drop-in Demonstrations:
5:30-6:00 pm: Avoid the Draft: Making Door Draft Blockers – As temperatures drop, you may start to realize all those cracks and crevices leaking heat out of your home. One major source of heat loss is through gaps around your front door. Come learn how to make a door snake draft blocker to help you save energy and stay warm this winter. Bonus: one lucky attendee will get to take home the one we make! (Leader: Bailey Murphy, Energy Projects Coordinator for the Student Sustainability Initiative)
6:15-6:35 pm: Get Patched Up: Hole in One Jean Repair – Have you ever gotten a hole in your jeans and not wanted to throw them out because you don’t have the cash to buy new ones or because they’re a great pair you don’t want to part with? Come by to learn how to make those ripped jeans look unique and good as new with this demo! If you have holey jeans now, bring them along to fix. (Leader: Jasmine Armas, volunteer with the Waste Watchers)
6:45-7:15 pm: Clean Up Your Act: D.I.Y. Green Cleaning – Looking to save cash and the environment at the same time? Come learn how you can use a few basic, food-safe ingredients to clean your whole home. Bonus: Take home a free sample, mason jar included! (Leaders: Jessica Collins and Tyler Coleman, volunteers of the Waste Watchers)
