Turning down the furnace or turning off a light is an easy way to save energy in the home and at work.  But there are many other times when it takes a little investment today to save tomorrow.

New energy revolving loan fund programs on campus and in the Corvallis community have been set up to get around potential cost issues of capital intensive energy upgrades.

Save money and energy in your home
Save money and energy in your home

On Wednesday, June 15 at 7:00 PM in the public library downtown, join members of the OSU/Corvallis community for a “SELF help” energy workshop for owners of homes within Corvallis.  SELF is the new Saving Energy Loan Fund created by the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition Energy Action Team, supported by the Corvallis Environmental Center and administered by the City of Corvallis Housing Division.  All those proper nouns means this is a very collaborative partnership!  SELF uses limited-time federal economic stimulus money for energy savings and economic development.  Loans can be between $2,500 and $10,000.

If you’ve ever thought about installing an energy-efficient dishwasher, gas tankless water heater, electric heat pump water heater, solar water heating system, insulation, high-efficiency heat pump, or a solar electric system you should check out this event!  Local Energy Advocates from Energize Corvallis will be available for one-on-one consultation and to create customized energy action plans, detailing cost-effective measures.

You are leaders on campus.  Help be a leader in our community. And at the same time, help your SELF!

  1. I am unable to attend the event this week but interested in getting some information or consultation regarding solar water heating and solar electric system installation. Do you have some information that you could email me?

    Thanks for your help,

    Sue and Dudley Chelton
