Congratulations to the Arismendi Lab on earning Gold-level Green Lab Certification!
In order to successfully achieve Gold-level status, they made some major changes to their energy, water, recycling, transportation, and more! These updates include:
- Using LED lighting
- Using natural light when possible
- Enabling power management settings on computers
- Conserving water while hand washing
- Recycling
- Teleconferencing
About the Certification:
The Green Labs Certification is a simple yet effective way for OSU lab managers and workers to further their sustainability efforts and get recognition for their work. It is also intended to provide new ideas for easy steps your lab can take to reduce your environmental footprint and carbon emissions.
It takes the shape of an online survey that assesses current lab practices under five categories: Education & Engagement, Energy, Purchasing, Transportation, Waste Management, and Water.
Possible Certification Levels:
- Platinum (Pt): 80+%
- Gold (Au): 70-79%
- Silver (Ag): 60-69%
- Copper (Cu): 50-59%
