Sierra Magazine has recently published their list of the top Cool Schools in the U.S. These schools are considered the most sustainable colleges and universities across the nation, and of all 328 schools ranked, Oregon State University is #26! This is the Sierra Club’s fifteenth year ranking colleges based upon their eco bona fides and environmental commitments.
Oregon State University received an overall score of 78.21, based on data from our STARS dataset. In fact, Oregon State has received a STARS Gold rating every year we have participated since 2011, and was the first school in Oregon to submit a report. We are now the first institution to reach the 10-report milestone!
High performance areas examined by the Sierra Club included energy, air and climate, and transportation. They also looked at public engagement efforts and curriculum. The United States currently has more than 2,000 four-year colleges and universities, so it just goes to show you how committed Oregon State University is to being a sustainable school!
