Are you an OSU student living on campus next year? Are you excited to make new friends and build OSU’s culture of sustainability in the process? If you answered yes to both of those questions then you should apply to be an OSU Eco-Rep for the 2021-22 school year!

OSU’s Eco-Reps program is a cohort-based student leadership development program that transforms resident students into sustainability advocates. Eco-Reps work with the best and brightest minds of OSU and are responsible for advancing a culture of sustainability in OSU residence halls. No previous experience with sustainability work is required, just a passion for learning and enthusiasm for the job!

This is a great entry-level job for incoming students because it’s flexible and fun. Eco-reps generally work only 5-8 hours per week, and hours can be easily worked around class schedules and other obligations. Compensation is $13/hr. Apply by October 3rd!

Eco-Reps will advance OSU’s sustainability culture by:

  • Assisting with planning, marketing and execution of campus-wide sustainability programs such as recycling education and assessmentKilowatt CrackdownCampus Race to Zero WasteService Projects, and Beyond Earth Day, among others
  • Reporting outreach data in an online activity log
  • Actively engaging with University Housing & Dining (UHDS) staff and Area Councils
  • Conducting marketing and outreach for sustainability and recycling programs
  • Assisting UHDS in educating residents on the proper use of Eco2Go containers
  • Coordinating hall compost program by recruiting participants, emptying and cleaning compost bins, weighing and tracking data
  • Attending weekly meetings with other Eco-Reps, and monthly meetings with Resident Director

Required Qualifications:

  • Eco-Reps must live in an OSU residence hall on the Corvallis Campus
  • Organized, detail oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to handle compostable and recyclable materials, and be able to lift 25 lbs
  • Access to social media and basic proficiency using it 
  • Comfort approaching new people and interacting with large and small groups
