Registration for the Center for Civic Engagement’s (CCE) Day of Caring Service Projects on Saturday May 20th is now OPEN!
Students, staff, and faculty are invited to participate in this day of service. Choose from various service projects.
Check-in will be on campus in the MU Lounge with transportation provided from there.
These projects allow participants the opportunity to engage in their local community, build relationships, make impactful changes, and begin to shape the type of community they want to live in. CCE is partnering with the United Way of Benton & Lincoln Counties and the Alumni Association to host this event. Many projects can accommodate children and youth as well.

The projects available include:
Central Park Clean-Up with Leadership Corvallis, 6-8 participants needed, MU Lounge Check-In at 8:15 AM, Estimated campus return time at 12:15 pm. Power-wash and sand playground equipment, benches & tables at Central Park in Corvallis alongside your community members! This event is for ages 13 and older. Guardian must be present for any youth participant.
Let’s Pull Together with Greenbelt Land Trust and SOLVE, 6 participants needed, MU Lounge Check-In at 8:15 AM, Estimated campus return time at 12:15 pm. Come pitch in to help reduce the spread of invasive plants. By pulling together, we can protect native habitats and the wildlife that depend on them. Difficulty level: moderate. Volunteers will be pulling invasive plants including holly and spurge laurel. This event is for all ages. Guardian must be present for any youth participant
Nurturing the Garden and the Community with SAGE (Corvallis Environmental Center), 5-25 participants needed, MU Lounge Check-In at 8:15 AM, Estimated campus return time at 12:15 pm. Volunteers will be working on landscaping and garden improvements to make the garden more functional for educational purposed. Volunteers also will be preparing the garden and planting to ensure bountiful harvests later in the year. This event is for all ages. Guardian must be present for any youth participant.
We have the cause. You have the effect. With Trillium Family Services, Children’s Farm Home, 15 participants needed, MU Lounge Check-In at 8:45 AM, Estimated campus return time at 1:15 PM. Possible activities: Several areas need general sprucing up: pruning rose bushes, raking, weeding and putting down mulch. Also, weeding and laying down mulch around base of trees. Our main entrance and areas around our buildings needs some TLC. Also, there may be some work that needs to be down around our vegetable garden. This event is for ages 17 and up.
Habitat Forest Reforestation with Wildcat Ridge Sanctuary, 12-36 participants needed, MU Lounge Check-In at 8:00 AM, Estimated campus return time at 4:30 PM. Volunteers at this project will help restore habitat for a wildlife sanctuary by removing Scotch Broom. This new planting will be managed as a sustainable forest, with select harvest to support the needs of the sanctuary while sustaining forest and meadow habitat with expanded caged outdoor space. This event is for ages 14 and up.
