The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition is sponsoring the third in a series of meetings, titled “Energy: A Community Conversation”, to review and revise each of the 12 topic areas included in the 2008 Community Sustainability Action Plan. The meeting will take place on Monday, June 25 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the Corvallis Benton County Public Library’s Main Meeting Room.
The Community Sustainability Action Plan is based on ideas gathered from hundreds of community members who attended three town hall meetings in 2008. The plan outlines the Corvallis community’s goals, strategies and actions in 12 topic areas: Community Inclusion, Economic Vitality, Education, Energy, Food, Health and Human Services, Housing, Land Use, Natural Areas, Transportation, Waste Prevention, and Water.
The Coalition’s Energy Action Team has drafted a revised set of goals, strategies, and actions that will be presented at the June 25th meeting for the purpose of getting feedback and additional ideas from the community. The revised plan will be presented to the community at the Coalition’s Town Hall in 2013.
Attendees are advised to review both the current Energy section of the Action Plan and the proposed revisions to the plan prior to the meeting. As noted in the document, the Energy Action Team is proposing some significant changes to the current plan.
This is a great opportunity for community members to have an open and frank discussion about how we can create an energy-secure future. All colleagues who may be interested in energy-related issues in our community are invited.
