The “Bag It Corvallis” campaign needs your help. Volunteers of the Student Sustainability Initiative can help invite the public to sign postcards, with the Bag Monster at the Saturday Farmer’s Market on April 28th and May 5th between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The postcards will be delivered to the City Council, which is considering an ordinance. The campaign’s goal is support for an ordinance in Corvallis that bans single-use plastic carryout bags with an incentive toward reusable bags. Single-use plastic bags are used on average for 12 minutes each, litter our beaches and present a hazard to the environment and human health.

If you are interested in volunteering at one of the Farmer’s Markets or in some other way, please contact Debra Higbee-Sudyka at dwhigbe@juno.com.
