In the midst of the holiday season, we would like to take a moment and look forward to a couple opportunities coming up in the new year for students to get more involved with the Student Sustainability Initiative (SSI).

1. Design and Visibility Coordinator – Applications due January 10th, 2012

We are looking to hire an OSU student with experience in graphic design, communications, and marketing to join the organization as its Design and Visibility Coordinator. The position oversees the SSI’s digital and print visibility efforts, and is responsible for managing interns, designing materials, managing website(s) and social media pages, planning publicity efforts and campaigns, and improving the organization’s ability to do this work in the future. (Hours: 10-15 per week (can increase or decrease depending on availability and needs. Wage: $9.50/hr.)

We really want an OSU student with experience in design and visbility, so pass this along! If there is a chance you might be interested in the position, know anyone who might be, or think there is a group whose members might be particularly interested, we would love it if you could pass along this information. Details can be found at oregonstate.edu/sustainability/ssi/jobs/visibility.

2. Internship Opportunities – Applications due January 15th, 2012

We are looking to take on as many as eight interns this Winter Term, each one responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing a particular set of projects or activities here at the SSI. If you are interested in getting involved on a regular basis, want to gain experience or give back, or are looking to spend more time with this wonderful community, please check out these opportunities.

This term, we’re looking to fill the following positions:

If you have skills related to any of these areas, know someone who does, or think there is a group who might be interested in any of these opportunities, please pass them along. Whether you’re looking for experience or just want to give back, these are great opportunities to do so.

Because the internships differ considerably in focus and responsibilities, there is no set length for these internships. For this reason, interns and the SSI staff member they’re working with are expected negotiate an appropriate length for the internship. (Recommended lengths are: (a) 10 weeks, (b) 21-24 weeks, and (c) 35 weeks.) While the SSI cannot itself give credit, we will work with interns and their colleges to secure credit.

If you have questions about these opportunities, please do not hesitate to contact the SSI’s co-directors (ssi.director[at]oregonstate.edu).
