On November 18th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the MU Ballroom the Sustainability Office, Campus Recycling, the Student Sustainability Initiative and ASOSU are hosting a FREE concert intended to spread awareness about sustainability issues through the local arts, and through an involvement fair composed of various student and community groups.

Many of the environmental and social issues we face are rooted in cultural paradigms or trends. Cultures around the world often respond to these issues with music as a vehicle of expression.  This event is intended to do exactly that by presenting local artist who will express themselves and their values related to sustainability. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to inform people about activities happening on our campus and within the community, and how to get involved.
Charles Goodrich, the Director of the Spring Creek Project will be reading some of his poetry which employs the creativity of written word and philosophy to deeply consider our relationship to and perception of nature. We are very excited to have him.
Cassandra Robertson, a local singer/songwriter who is performing at the event is also one of the coordinators of the Energy Advocates Program. The program informs homeowners on how they can reduce their home energy consumption through no or low-cost measures by informing people about incentives for weatherization, efficiency, and renewable energy projects. We are very excited to have Cassandra as well.

Some of the other acts include classical piano inspired by nature, progressive acoustic rock, and even a hip-hop piece on material culture and its relationship to sustainability.

We hope you can make it! Again the event FREE (as it should be!)
