The Case for Recruitment and Selection

Typically I think that companies might use allocate more resources toward marketing products rather than toward recruitment an selection because they believe all they need to do is compete with others on the market is to get their product or service the most attention. While in general this will help attract attention (the entire point of marketing), if the product or service sucks because of who the company hired, people will quickly stray from the company regardless of how hard they push the products. Also, companies might not care as much about who they hire as long as they are making a profit… although unfortunate, it is true. The hiring process is expensive, and sometimes doing it the right way can take too much time. This means that candidates who are better may easily get passed up. As mentioned before, some strengths may include the ability to allocate more resources to marketing, but weaknesses are less employee retention, and product quality may go down.
