Blog Post #2

We are using a few different technologies for our group project. Bootstrap is a CSS framework that we are using for the frontend. Reactjs is a javascript library for creating user interfaces that we are also using for the frontend of our application. Finally, we are using flask for our backend and flask is a web framework that uses python. All of these technologies are new to me so it has been interesting to use them for our application.

My favorite technology is probably bootstrap. I like how it has a lot of built-in elements and design templates that we can use for our application, such as buttons and forms. Compared to the other two technologies, it is much easier to pick up and learn right away. I was able to use it right away to lay out my UI pages for our application. Another nice thing about bootstrap is that it is responsive, so if we want to adapt our web application to mobile we could easily. I can’t think of a way that bootstrap could be made better, though with further use I may be able to think of some areas of improvement.

According to this article on LinkedIn, https://www.linkedin.com/advice/1/what-some-benefits-drawbacks-using-bootstrap-front-end#:~:text=Bootstrap%20also%20adds%20a%20lot,match%20your%20vision%20or%20goals, they mention that bootstrap can potentially impact the performance of an application due to its file size. I have not seen that impact yet but our application is only at the beginning stages at this time.
