News From Your Co-Presidents – Nov/Dec 2025

By Laura & Martin Teague

Martin and I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful fall weather—it’s such a wonderful time to be out in the garden! There’s been so much happening with the CCMGA over the past few months, and we’re excited to share some highlights.

Vampires Be Gone—Plant Garlic!

We were thrilled to host a booth at the Gold Beach Rotary’s 75th Birthday Bash on October 11th. Ali Van Otterloo, Martin Teague, and I represented CCMGA, and what a fun event it was!

Our booth theme was “VAMPIRES BE GONE—PLANT GARLIC!”, and it was a hit. We helped more than 60 kids and parents learn how to plant both softneck and hardneck garlic.

And of course, our wonderful Co-President, Martin Teague, stole the show dressed as a vampire—though he may have startled a couple of little ones in the process!

In addition to funding educational opportunities for local students, the Rotary club has been a great partner to our association by funding grants for several Master Gardener projects.

Mark Your Calendars for the December Potluck

It’s that time of year again! Our CCMGA December Potluck will be held on Sunday, December 7th, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Pistol River Friendship Hall (24252 Carpenterville Rd.).

Since it’s a potluck, please visit TeamUp to sign up for a dish and note who’ll be attending. We’ll also enjoy a White Elephant gift exchange (limit $20—it’s always a blast!).

In addition, Paul Maree will lead a ceremony recognizing our 2025 graduates. We can’t wait to celebrate together, so be sure to save the date!

 Looking Ahead to 2026

As we look toward 2026, several CCMGA Board positions will be changing. Here are the current candidates:

  • President: Jerry Herbage
  • Vice President: Martin Teague
  • Secretary: Cindy Myers and Laura Lee Cundiff (Co-Secretaries)
  • Treasurer: Brenda Blythe

The Membership Coordinator position is still open, so if you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you! Our OMGA Representatives will be co-shared by Cindy Myers and Laura Lee Cundiff.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our candidates. 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for our Association!

With warm regards,

Laura & Martin Teague
