Fall Fest at Riley Creek Elementary School

On October 31st, just in time for Halloween, MG volunteers marked the changing seasons with a Fall Fest at Riley Creek School Garden. The garden, lovingly maintained by MGs, is used as an outside teaching environment by CCMGs and Riley Creek Elementary School teachers. Fall Fest, an after-school garden celebration, was attended by 70+ students and family members. The fairies, princesses, bunnies, butterflies and wizards were out in brilliant colors to celebrate Halloween.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities, including a Sensory Garden Hunt, face painting and planting fall garlic starts. It was a beautiful day and a big draw was pressing apples to make cider. In addition to enjoying fresh cider, students also had made-to-order lettuce wraps to munch on.

This is always a great opportunity to support garden-based learning and connect with the school community.
