Curry County Master Gardener™ Association Awards 2025

In recognition of his wonderful work in growing vegetable starts for the plant sale, Frank Furtaw (left) was selected as the Master Gardener of the Year. The move to our new greenhouse occurred only weeks before the spring plant sale. So, especially this year, the sale of such a large selection of veggies greatly contributed to the surprising success of the plant sale, and so to the funds that support all of our MG programs.

Dave Denney and Steve Myers (middle) were awarded the Behind the Scenes Award for their expertise and many hours of hard work that guided the construction of the new greenhouse. Although many people contributed to the planning and development of the greenhouse, Dave and Steve shepherded the construction process from the beginning and still continue today.

Kim Foster (right) was selected for the Growing and Belonging Award. Kim offered Seed to Supper, a free, six-week gardening course from OSU Extension. It is designed to give beginning gardeners the tools they need to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited budget. Kim gave a very well attended course at the Port Orford Public Library and corradiated with Curry County Master Gardeners and a number of community partners.
