February = Food Drive!

January 31st, 2011

Tuesday marks the beginning of the CVM Food Drive. Collection jars are available around the College waiting for your donations. Remember, $1=5 pounds of food!

Fundraisers will take place throughout the month beginning with “Soup Day” Wednesday, Feb. 2. You’ll find the soup choices in the atrium (lobby) from 11:30 to 1:30. Soup, bread and a drink cost $4; soup only is $2. Volunteers are still needed to bring soups, bread products and individual drink items (cans, bottles or juice boxes). Email Robyn Panico or Josie Corliss if you would like to contribute.

On Friday, Feb. 11, a variety of Hot Dogs, including veggie, will be available. A Bake Sale will follow on Monday, Valentine’s Day. You won’t be able to resist, so bring your cash.

Feb. 17 and 18, Thursday and Friday, bring your yard sale items to the arena and your silent auction items to Lindy in the atrium. The Yard Sale will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 19 and 20. The Silent Auction will run from 9 a.m. Feb. 22 to 2:00 p.m. Feb. 25.

Healthy Salads will tempt you on Wednesday, Feb. 23. For all food events, bring your own bowls/plates and utensils if possible.

Throughout the month you can buy tickets for a great prize drawing at the end of the month. Buy your tickets from Lindy in the atrium.

Volunteers may also enlist you to have monthly deductions made for a year for the food drive. As little as $5 a month for a year equals 60 pounds of food! If you sign up for $12 or more per month, you will be entitled to VIP passes for Food Drive events at reduced fare.

Food drive volunteers are Dr. Jana Gordon, Food Drive Committee Chair; committee members Josie Corliss, Melanie Garrett, Pat Hutson, Robyn Panico, JoDell Schweizer, Mandy Seals, David Sisson, Sherry Sisson, Alyssa Tucker, Juli West and Lindy Young. Proceeds from the OSU Corvallis campus benefit the non-profit agencies served by Linn-Benton Food Share, including local food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, day care centers, and shelter homes.
