Notable November Events

Check out the COH events calendar to see what’s happening these days! Here are some coming up:

Great Give-off: Supporting Basic Needs and Food Security
The Great Give-Off, a COH belonging campaign, focuses on food security and community support. It combines resource sharing—like campus food access and OSU Extension programs—with fun, team-based giving opportunities (e.g., a food drive, online fundraising, and Penny Olympics). Scores are adjusted for team size, making it fair for everyone. Whether you give or just spread awareness, there’s a way to get involved. Visit the virtual dashboard, or drop in for our Launch Open House on Wednesday, November 5 in the Women’s Building Lobby from 1-3 PM or our virtual launch from 12-1 PM. If you have any questions about participating or donating, please reach out to Gabbi Merales.

Cooking for Climate: A Climate-focused Nutrition Education Workshop
For many of us, sustainability is a crucial value, especially when it comes to food. The Cooking for Climate workshop, which’ll be offered three times in Milam 105 (Wednesday, November 12; Monday, November 17; and Friday, November 21), is a perfect opportunity to gain experience participating in a research study while learning how to reduce your carbon footprint when it comes to what you eat. If you’re eligible to participate, feel free to join Nutrition graduate student Alex Madachy and Dr. Sarah Rothenberg during one of these sessions by scanning the QR code below!

Upcoming Conference: Stanford University Minority Medical Alliance (SUMMA)
The 2026 SUMMA Conference is happening at Stanford University on Saturday, February 7, so now’s the time to register! SUMMA is a coalition of Stanford Medical Students representing a wide array of minority backgrounds and professional organizations; it’s a great way to learn more about medical school directly from the experts. If interested, consider applying for the COH Student Conference Travel Scholarship by November 16 for potential funding! If you have questions about SUMMA, please contact Greg Vaughn.
