Last week of January, friends! What better way to maximize the first month of the year than by participating in one of the opportunities in this newsletter? Also, make your academic plan for Spring 2026 if you haven’t already; registration is less than a month away!

Winter 2026 Deadlines

Week 4: January 26–30

Friday, February 20 @ Noon: last day to change the grading basis of a class (A-F to S/U or vice versa; here’s the COH S/U policy)

Friday, February 20 @ 11:55 PM: last day to withdraw from a class (no tuition refund)

Friday, March 13 @ 11:55 PM: last day to withdraw from the term

New COH Minor Alert: Community Nutrition
Interested in how food, nutrition, and education collectively shape health in communities? Debuting this academic year, the Community Nutrition minor can help you stand out in with practical, real-world skills in nutrition, equity and community well-being (and, yes, it appears on your official OSU transcript). Offered on campus in Corvallis, this minor is open to all majors!

HDFS Student Seeking Participants to Discuss OSU Experience for Study
If you’ve never engaged with research before but are eager to test the waters, you now have a low-stakes opportunity to do so! Megan Sykes, an HDFS major and Honors student, is collaborating with Dr. Kathleen Bogart to investigate students’ sense of belonging at OSU in their study, “Experience in Oregon Higher Education.” If you’d like to help out and make your voice heard, simply complete this 30-minute survey. Any OSU student who’s at least 18 can participate. More info in the graphic below!

Dam Proud Day: Calling All Student Clubs and Orgs!
Ready to educate others about what your student organization does? If so, apply by Saturday, January 31 to be part of Dam Proud Day later this April (note: only the first 75 student organizations to sign up will get a spot)! Dam Proud Day unites students, alumni, faculty, and friends to support meaningful OSU programs and initiatives. Showcase your achievements, connect with the university community, and help celebrate our annual day of giving. Also, on Wednesday, April 29, your student club is welcome to sign up to participate in the Dam Proud Day Street Fair.

Getting a Dam Job: A Step-by-Step Guide to Job Searching
Scoping out part-time or full-time opportunities or a possible side hustle? Consider registering for this virtual workshop on how to expertly conduct a job search on Tuesday, January 27 from 5:30-6:30 PM. You’ll learn how to identify your strengths as you begin your search to maximize your application as well as more about what employers and recruiters desire in applicants. Feel free to contact Jeremy Hansen with questions.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) invites all OSU students, staff, faculty, and their children/dependents to join us on Saturday January 31, 2026, for our annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (register here!). This event is about coming together to honor Dr. King’s life and legacy and help advance his dream for peace by serving our neighbors and strengthening our ties through community service projects. These projects will occur at various times, all starting at different times throughout the day. Questions?
