National Transfer Student Week
Transfer students, this is your week! From October 15 through October 24, OSU is celebrating National Transfer Student Week. To this end, if anyone has questions about the wonderful Degree Partnership Program, this is an opportunity for answers from the OSU Transfer Services Managers. In this spirit of honoring our transfer students, we’re pleased to feature the amazing Ailin Castro, a Nutrition major (Dietetics) who transferred to OSU from the University of Oregon last year.

What made you decide to transfer to OSU?
I transferred for the Dietetics program. While exploring different majors at U of O, I realized I have a passion for nutrition and want to become a registered dietician.

What have you enjoyed most about OSU?
I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people and getting involved in different communities. Volunteering with the Basic Needs Center Food Pantry has been one of my favorite experiences, as has getting involved with a faith-based community on campus. Growing up in Portland, I always thought I loved being in a big city. I was surprised how much I enjoy the small-town vibes. Corvallis is walkable and welcoming!

What’s a piece of helpful advice for students transferring to OSU?
Transferring was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I feel a lot happier here. It can feel intimidating or scary to start fresh again, but it’s a great opportunity to grow. OSU has many ways to get involved, so go outside your comfort zone! Try new clubs, communities, and experiences. New opportunities can come up, and you meet new people!

Food as Medicine Panel + Culinary Medicine Workshop
The Moore Family Center will proudly host its first Food as Medicine Series panel seminar, which is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from nutrition experts and practitioners about the intersection of dairy foods and health management. Students of all majors are welcome to join us on Monday, October 27 at 5 PM in LINC 128. Further, for students pursuing pre-med and allied health pathways, come back on Thursday, October 30 at 4 PM in Milam 205 for a practical culinary medicine workshop. Food samples are highly possible!
