Get to Know Your Advisor
Sometimes, we spotlight a COH Advisor or Peer Ambassador, so you can get to know the people behind the desks at the Office of Student Success. This week, we’re pleased to introduce Maria José Solis (she/her/ella).
What’s your favorite song? – “Tadow” by Masego (f. FKJ)
What’s your favorite film? – The Fifth Element
What’s your favorite restaurant in Corvallis? – Koriander
What’s a strange food combo you like? – popcorn with ketchup
If you could swap lives with someone for a day, who? – Dr. Ellen Ochoa, NASA astronaut and first Latina in outer space
What’s a family tradition from your childhood? – In Yucatan, my cousins, brother, and I would do ramadas yucatecas around December. Kids would get a box and decorate it with religious statues or pictures/personal items of family that had passed away. We went around the neighborhood singing, and the person who lived at that house would usually hand out money, fruit, or candy. It is a mixture of trick-or-treating and caroling.
