Week 3 Fall 2024

Autumn in Corvallis never disappoints! We hope you’re basking in the fall vibes and marveling at the leaves turning crimson and gold. While you’re at it, cozy up with a mug of tea or coffee as you read about what’s coming up around the corner at OSU.

Important Fall 2024 Dates

Sunday, October 20, 11:55 PM: last day to withdraw from a class and receive a 50% tuition refund (a W will appear on your transcript but doesn’t affect your GPA)

Friday, November 15, 12:00 PM: last day to change the grading basis of a class (A-F to S/U or vice versa; review the COH S/U policy)

Friday, November 15, 11:55 PM: last day to withdraw from a class (no tuition refund)

Friday, December 6, 11:55 PM: last day to withdraw from the term

Register to Vote by October 15!

Voting directly impacts your health and well-being. It’s a powerful way to voice your opinion on issues that affect your life now and in the future. Learn about registering to vote and voting, and get resources and applicable ideas on managing difficult conversations. Remember, the Oregon online and in-person voter registration deadline is Oct. 15. Election day is Nov. 5.

Indigenous Peoples’ Week
Come to celebrate, learn, and reflect during Indigenous Peoples’ Week, which is happening from Saturday, October 12 through Thursday, October 17. Check out the webpage for a list of events and excellent exhibits, including Oregon is Indian Country at the Valley Library this month.

COH Research Seminar: Shaping Oregon’s Future: Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Needs Assessment to Drive Priorities/Policy
Please join us to hear from our own Dr. Marit Bovbjerg, Associate Professor of Epidemiology, who’ll discuss OSU’s work with the Oregon Health Authority to conduct a statewide needs assessment of maternal, child, and adolescent health on Friday, October 18 from 1-2 PM in Hallie Ford Center 115. Those online can join via this Zoom link.

Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP-MPH) Info Session
Did you know the COH offers an accelerated master’s degree in Public Health? Did you know there are six (6) AMP-MPH options? If you’re interested in learning more about our AMP-MPH program please join us for this info session in on Wednesday, October 23 from 11 AM-12 PM in Hallie Ford Center 115. You may register for this here. Prospective students from all majors and colleges are welcome (and there’s PIZZA!).

Virtual Career & Internship Fair and Health & Biotech Career Fair
Ready to network? The Career Development Center is sponsoring a virtual career and internship fair for all OSU students via Handshake on Wednesday, October 16 from 11 AM-2 PM. One week later, on October 23 from 11 AM-3 PM, they’re sponsoring a Health and Biotech career and internship fair in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center.
