Happy December, friends, and welcome to Week 10! Can you believe how rapidly the fall term has passed? For those who still need to plan for the winter term, schedule with your advisor, or visit the OSS during drop-in times (M-F, 10:30-11:30 AM and 2:30-3:30 PM). Lastly, best of luck with finals next week!

Important Fall 2024 Dates

Thursday, December 5, 6:00 AM: Phase 2 of registration opens for some students (to find your Phase 2 day/time, visit the registration webpage for instructions); students may join course section waitlists during Phase 2

Friday, December 611:55 PM: last day to withdraw from the term

Welcoming New Academic Advisors!
As some of you already know, the COH Office of Student Success (OSS) gladly welcomed Maria José Solis (she/her/ella) and David Trinidad (he/him/his), both of whom joined our team last month! David and Maria offer a wealth of experience in the realms of teaching, academic advising, program support, and much more. Currently, Maria and David are having COH students assigned to them; if you’ll be one of their advisees, they’re looking forward to meeting you!

ScholarDollars Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
ScholarDollars is now live and accepting applications for a variety of scholarships through March 16, 2025! Just one application form will automatically match you for scholarships for which you’re potentially eligible. Please contact the new COH scholarship coordinator, Luanne Carrillo-Avalos, with questions (scholarships.coh@oregonstate.edu).

Spring Break in Puerto Rico?
The COH and the College of Agricultural Sciences are co-sponsoring a faculty-led study abroad opportunity in Puerto Rico from March 21-30, 2025! The focus of the study is Island Resilience: Exploring Health, Sustainability, & Food Security in Puerto Rico. If you’re interested in this amazing opportunity, please attend the first info session on December 4 from 11 AM-12 PM in STAG 240.

COH Special Topics Courses: Open Seats for HHS 199 & KIN 199
Need another class to add to your winter term schedule? Consider enrolling in HHS 199 (Disease Detectives) for 4 credits or KIN 199 (Olympic Science) for 2 credits. Both have open seats; just check out the Class Search. Below is more info on HHS 199.

Get to Know Your Peer Ambassador

Sometimes, we spotlight a COH Advisor or Peer Ambassador, so you can get to know the people behind the desks at the Office of Student Success. This week, we’re delighted to introduce one of our veteran Peer Ambassadors and our “Creative Director” majoring in Kinesiology (PTAH: Pre-PT) and minoring in Psychology, Skyler Abbas (she/her).

What’s your favorite restaurant in Corvallis? – The Brass Monkey
What’s a strange food combo you enjoy? – Trader Joe’s rolled chili and lime tortilla chips with guacamole.
If you could swap lives with someone for a day, who? – My three-year-old niece, just to see what she thinks about during the day.
What’s a family tradition from your childhood? – I bake homemade cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast every year!
