Beneficial Training

Training is something I am very familiar with. I enlisted in the Army out of high school. This means that throughout my military career I have done all sorts of training. Many of witch were really good. A lot of witch felt useless or really bad. After going over the learning material this week It has helped me distinguish different types of training I have done. A form of required and regular training was Basic Training. This is something that every soldier in the army goes through. Regardless of MOS (job) everyone does basic training. This was beneficial to me, because it taught me basic soldier skills. How to conduct myself in the military. As well as what is expected out of me at the basic level of being a soldier. After that I went through some more advanced training. This is more focused around the job and technical training. An example of this is Urban Operations Training. My MOS is 11B, this means I am an infantryman and my job is close quarters combat. This training was specific to my job. We were trained on combatives, and how to clear rooms. We started small with one room buildings, and worked our way up to multiple story buildings with hallways and many rooms. Eventually we worked into how to fight in a small compound and then towns. This training was awesome. It was engaging and we were taught by people with tons of experience who are experts at this type of combat. That gave us confidence in our leaders, and we new that what they were teaching us was valuable. This training lasted a couple weeks. Because of the duration of the training we got quality reps and built muscle memory and were thrown into all kinds of different situations. To this day I still draw on my experiences and learning from that training to do my job proficiently. This may seem like it doesn’t apply to the civilian sector. However even though the exact task at hand wont. Knowing what good training looks like, and how much planing and thought should go in to quality training will help me dramatically in my future career. I will have the knowledge to properly plan training for my employees and ensure they maintain the skills that they need to properly preform their jobs.
