Compensation

Adequate compensation is something that is very important to individuals in determining whether or not they feel their efforts are being recognized in a genuine and accurate manner. Compensation is┬áthe total cash and non-cash payments that you give to an employee in exchange for the work they do for your business. Compensation is more than an employee’s regular paid wages. It also includes many other types of wages and benefits (Kappel, 2021). A situation where someone I knew engaged engaged in a set of behaviors and compensation was a motivating factor was when my friend decided to apply for and ultimately accept a job to work for a local In n Out. Compensation was definitely a motivating factor in this decision because he kept mentioning how great the pay was for a high school student working there and all the benefits he got. I ultimately believe that compensation was a motivating factor because he never really mentioned that he truly enjoyed the job but he repeatedly explained the amount of money and benefits he was receiving for his efforts. Besides the healthy wage that my friend was receiving, he was also provided with a free meal for every shift and overtime/holiday shift opportunities. My friend’s favorite place to eat was In n Out so the free meal he was able to get each shift meant a lot to him and he really enjoyed it. The thorough compensation that my friend received for working at In n Out was a major reason why he decided to work their for multiple months. As a high school student, he was willing to live a busy life that included school work and extracurricular activities all while working regular shifts at In n Out due to the fact that he felt the compensation he was getting in return was more than worth it.
