Friend of a Friend

Always Read the Discription

The last job that I applied for what I thought was an entry-level hr position at a local brewery that is relatively close to my hometown. Nothing about my process was normal and it all started with one of my friends recommended me to one of their friends who knew the owner of the brewery. At which point I passed my resume along the daisy chain and I ended up getting called back for an interview. Before the interview they had me take a digital tour of their work as well as the brewery as a whole which I thought was really cool and a good way to show the workplace during quarantine. I also asked my friend’s friend to tell me about what it was like to work there and I found they were able to give me some great insights into what it was like to work there, it matched fairly well with what they had on their website. The digital interview went ok, but it was clear to me that they were not really considering me all too seriously, and even if they were I would not be the person to fill that role, for the position after the first few questions.

Final Thoughts

My experience overall with the interview and from what I saw with the video call as well as the short video tour that they gave me was that this would have been a really great place to work, and the company culture seemed to really fit well with what I want in a future workplace. I would say overall there were a fair number of smaller things that made me think that this was a company that knew what they were doing.
