Jonny’s background

I was born and raised in Ashland, Oregon. I attended Lewis and Clark College, where I conducted research with Dr. Ken Clifton and Dr. Greta Binford, including an honor’s thesis on rainbow trout population genetics. I did my PhD working with Dr. Daniel Schindler and the University of Washington Alaska Salmon Program. I was awarded a Smith Conservation Research Fellowship to pursue a postdoc at University of Wyoming with Dr. Matthew Kauffman as my academic mentor. I joined the faculty at Oregon State University in 2016.

In my free time I enjoy camera trapping wildlife with my two sidekicks, Hayden and Rya.
